" How to maintain a healthy body during summer time?"

I love the idea of summer because  it is the best time to  spend our vacation with our family and love ones ,as part of Filipino's  customs we love to go  to beaches, rivers and pools to have family recreation, bonding and celebration  but somehow we are aware that the heat of the sun is very unbearable to carry because of its scorching heat, it can make us uncomfortable and we can feel conscious of what might happen to our skin. In order for us to enjoy the summer here are some tips to stay healthy despite of the heat condition of our country. Let's try to look at this and apply in our respective homes.  .

Here it is,,,,

  1. Stay cool and hydrated. Drink water, at least two to four cups (16-32 ounces) upon rising, and similar amounts if you are going out for activities and exercise. Carry water with you in a hard plastic container (more stable polycarbonate rather than polyethylene that leaches plastic into the water). You may also use a traveling water filter. Check your local water stores or www.realgoods.com. Most people need two to three quarts of liquid per day, and more in hot weather or with sweating and exercise. Review Chapter 1 of Staying Healthy with Nutrition or Chapter 7 of The Staying Healthy Shopper's Guide for further information on Water.
  2. While enjoying the sun and outdoors, protect yourself from overexposure to sunlight by wearing a hat and using natural sunscreens without excessive chemicals. Carry Aloe Vera gel for overexposure and have an aloe plant growing in your home for any kind of burn. The cooling and healing gel inside the leaves will soothe any sunburn. It works great.
  3. Keep up or begin an exercise program. Aerobic activity is important for keeping the heart strong and healthy. If you only work out in a health club, take some time to do outdoor refreshing activities -- hiking, biking, swimming, or tennis. Reconnecting with these activities will help keep your body and mind aligned.
  4. Enjoy Nature's bounty – fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables at their organic best. Consuming foods that are cooling and light -- fresh fruits, vegetable juices, raw vital salads, and lots of water -- will nourish your body for summertime activities. Include some protein with one or two meals. There are a number of light, nourishing proteins that don't require cooking. Most of these complement fruits and vegetables nicely-- nuts, seeds, sprouted beans, soy products, yogurt, kefir, and cottage cheese. Fish and poultry can also be eaten.
  5. Take some special summer time with your family, kids, and friends who share the enjoyment of outdoors. Plan a fun trip if you're able and motivated for a day or longer -- hiking in the wild, camping, playing at the river, or a few days resting at the ocean. Rekindling our Earth connection has benefits that last beyond this season, continuing to enrich the whole of your life.
  6. Relax and breathe. You've been working hard. This is the season to slow the pace a bit and absorb the light that stimulates your hormonal message center. Leave your cell phone at home or take a week off from TV. In many European countries, most of the population has a month off during the summer.
  7. Sun teas are wonderful. Use flowers and leaves (or tea bags) in a clear half- or one-gallon glass jar filled with spring water. Hibiscus or red clover flowers, peppermint, chamomile, or lemon grass are all good choices, or use your local herbs and flowers that you learn are safe, flavorful, and even medicinal. Leave in the sun for two hours or up to a whole day. Moon teas can also be made to enhance your lunar, dreamy side by letting your herbs steep in the cooling, mystical moonlight. Add a little orange or lemon peel, or a sprig of rosemary and a few jasmine flowers.
  8. Nutritional supplements can support you with a greater amount of physical energy, enhancing your summer activities. The B-complex vitamins are calming to the nervous system and helpful for cellular energy production, while vitamin C and the other antioxidants protect your body from stress, chemical pollutants, and the biochemical by-products of exercise. Helpful summer herbs are Siberian ginseng as an energy tonic and stress protector, dong quai is a tonic for women, hawthorn berry is good for the heart, and licorice root will help energy balance and digestion.
  9. Use the summer months to deepen the spiritual awakening begun in the spring. Begin by checking your local bookstore or the web for ideas that interest you. Plan a vacation that incorporates these new interests and provides you time to read, relax, contemplate, and breathe.
  10. Above all, give yourself the time to truly experience Nature. This can happen, even in a city park, if you relax and let in your surroundings. When traveling, take activities for the family and your first aid kit for bites, bee stings, and injuries. Check for ticks after your hikes. Watch for overexposure, take time in the shade, and drink your water.

Youtube: DMCA vs Content Creators

Maveric here.

Youtube has been caught in an uproar lately. With content creators rambling about how Youtube is a scary place? The Fair Use, DMCA, etc? Let's See what Fair Use looks like:

Fair Use: 17 U.S.C. § 107 Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 17 U.S.C. § 106 and 17 U.S.C. § 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright. In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include: 1. the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes; 2. the nature of the copyrighted work; 3. the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and 4. the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work. The fact that a work is unpublished shall not itself bar a finding of fair use if such finding is made upon consideration of all the above factors.

This could be used as a defense by the content creators as long as they follow the premises of the given law, but in Youtube? They never recognize Fair Use.

Since 2010, Youtube's landscape has changed quickly. It was bought by Google, and it became a that multi-media platform. Soon, studios began looking at Youtube's potential. Millions of viewers go to Youtube every single day. This is what advertisers are looking for and suddenly, ads popped everywhere. Because Youtube has difficulty of monitoring their site manually, they assigned robots, which does the automated system. These robots also respond to the complaints too, but the responses are nothing but arranged walls of text that doesn't even answer your questions. They are also responsible for taking videos and channels down. And this is just the surface. And this system? Broken. The Youtube customer service is also crap, which adds oil to the fire. Remember when I talked about DMCA?  To summarize DMCA, Youtube is not liable to such copyright claims by other companies as long as they take the videos down with no legal trial involved. Broken automated system + DMCA = You obviously know where this one goes.

This is where it is terrible for the content creators. Youtube tends to have this "GUILTY until proven INNOCENT" philosophy. Youtube tends to side with the complainant at hand. If you are the complainant, and you lost the battle, you get no consequences whatsoever. If you are the defendant however? Not only you lose the ability to monetize your content, you may also get your video taken down, much worse, if you hit three strikes, your channel will be terminated. Some even go as far as transferring the monetization of the video to the complainant if Youtube or the complainant deems so worthy. Most content creators stay at Youtube because they earn for a living. And hearing all the news here and there, these content creators that want to entertain a wide audience are scared. Scared because they might hit a certain company, or step on a landmine or something. Worse case scenario? lose their jobs.

It just hurts to see how Youtube went to a website where video sharing was made for fun and entertainment and now, we are filled with scumbags that work behind the scenes and do nothing to solve the problem. DMCA is flawed, the automated system is broken. Once the companies raise the bar and seek legal trial, the average content creator cannot defend himself/herself because lawyers are very expensive.

Is this the downfall of Youtube? I hope not.

This has been Maveric, see you next time.

I love New York

City of New York, often called New York City or simply New York, is the most populous city in the United States.[1]Located at the southern tip of the State of New York, the city is the center of the New York metropolitan area, one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world.[9][10] A global power city,[11] New York City exerts a significant impact upon commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment, its fast pace[12] defining the termNew York minute.[13] Home to the headquarters of the United Nations,[14] New York is an important center for international diplomacy[15] and has been described as the cultural and financial capital of the world.[16][17][18][19][20][21]

This is one of my dream places where my best option of place to travel and get a regular job. My friend told me and she is currently living their, you can't feel the sense of belongingness to USA of you can't visit New York City. This place is incredibly fascinating to live and travel with. God willing I will apply work there together with my husband and to start a family there. I’ve been praying this all my life to have an opportunity to go there if God permits. I want to try if their city and mall will not sleep at night, or I want to try their time square how big and how many people will go there everyday if its numerous or just a few one. In God’s time,I’m looking forward to go there soon….

Rant: Anime

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Hey! Maveric here.

Today I want to address one topic that not everyone talks about; anime, and how we live in a society where being an anime fan is more of a stereotype, rather than a brand we could be proud of. For starters, anyone of you, reading this now surely knows what anime is. "Japanese cartoons right?", well... You kinda somewhat get it. Kids from the 90's sure experienced how anime dominated the television during their time, and I am no exemption. True anime fans go beyond that. Watching anime to the extent of being obsessed with it, not just one genre alone, but the expansive medium as much as possible, and becoming a nerd in some cases may qualify one as an anime fan.

Now here comes the issues that go on with being a true anime fan. You could go around and be fanboys/fangirls of a mainstream celebrity and not get that much hate from society... Well except from a few haters that swing in a few times that might get on your nerves. Being an anime fan is a challenge. You have to put up with haters and flamers calling you "weaboo", stupid grown ups that claim to know anime but only watched one show their entire life, mainstream fanboys that roam everywhere claiming their anime is the "best", fellow anime fans, and this society's branding where "Anime is for kids". Being an anime fan instantly creates this virtual wall that separates you from the norms of this society. And by those "norms", you could see some people that "screwed" themselves up, disconnecting the links to this reality totally dedicating their lives to anime.

Mobile Suit: Gundam Seed Destiny

Being immersed in anime is a totally different experience. You get to see somebody's imagination at play expressed in the most astounding possible way of story telling that art has never seen in any other medium. That may be an exaggeration... But you get the idea. Well, not totally ignoring western cartoons and those big-ass studios with multi-million budgets at hand, but I could never care any less. They were meant to be targetted for kids, with weak plot and poor narratives to back up that poor concept and heavily milked theme compressed altogether. And seeing how this music industry is slowly crumbling in their standards(see my previous rant), even that aspect of musicality among these films gets its quality lost out of nowhere, making the effectiveness of our films drastically fall. And this is no joke. Everytime I listen to the main theme songs and BGM's of these "new" cartoons, all I could say is "meh..." . Now let's get back to the topic shall we?
Now this is where anime hits any medium hard. DIVERSITY. The anime medium as a whole is as diverse as the music medium, and can be executed with more freedom than actual films. The genres range from the tearjerking Drama stories that may spring Romance here and there, gruesome Horror and soul-taking Suspense, the ever-common Sci-Fi, Comedy, Military and Fantasy, the gender specific Shoujo and oversaturated Shounen, the hormone-stimulating bizarre Yuri(girl-to-girl) and Yaoi(men-to-men), and the brain-wrecking Psychological animes that make you question what you are watching. Pretty weird actually...
And when I say "weird", oh boy, we are just touching the surface. You have to handle some "anime tropes" and brace yourself from the Japanese culture shock. Even I was baffled when I first encountered Harems(one character, multiple "partners"), Tsundere, Yandere etc... And you have to prepare yourself from the Japanese vocabulary overload that gets repeated over and over, and you have no choice but to remember these terms for your convenience.

Plastic Memories
This anime wrecked my life. I cried so much from this scene.

And the next trouble is, what anime do you really want to watch? You could browse the web, listen to anime elitists and trust their suggestions and recommendations, but honestly, anime is so subjective that all of us has different tastes. That's one thing I could assure.
If your brain hasn't exploded yet, then I invite you all to watch anime... Oh no, not the most common and mainstream ones, rather, try watching one that is heavily regarded as a masterpiece. Never get intimidated by the usual branding "it's for kids" rather, watch it for that experience. My experience with anime has lead me to a roller coaster ride, from moments that made me sit at the edge of my seat raising my adrenaline to the highest degree, screaming "HELL YEAH!!!", getting my mind blown from the protagonists' cunning and genius mind, having myself educated from the culture of not just Japan, but other countries' practices as well, and down to covering my face with a huge pillow and a thick blanket sheet because my heart can't handle the too much sadness that's going on.

Umm.... Kindly give way to the shonen fanboys?

If you're still not sold, I don't know what will. I hope you too get involved with the medium. You might be surprised.

Rant: Why Mainstream Music Today in General... SUCKS

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGp-VbcJYJBKaFp-QbL03knrrOTBa_vyJd9KlhoarbTILEYjPklCZ9gtfMyrJrCLTiAtitfsdQYTE_-5K242hLWUMQjEgZFxh50PRD3tFChPRQ9d8Ub9qUhDco1dq9eR1n2bnrKcaa4NU/s320/Music.jpg

Music

Maveric here.

Today, I will be ranting. Probably my next contents will be all about my rants about personal stuff. take note though; the following statements are loaded with opinions. If you're not sympathizing with me, then take my claims with a grain of salt. Okay, let's begin.

MUSIC: It runs through my veins. Ever since I was four years old, when my uncle taught me how to sing, my life was never the same. I thought of music as a simple, non-complex thing that everyone does to do as a stress reliever, impress people, express emotions or make some money; at least in the performing arts perspective. As I grew up, I witnessed how music evolved and took form in front of me. Until I picked up my first instrument; the Guitar. When I started a band and when we made a hip-hop movement in school, that's where the enlightenment began; the word called Mainstream. This thing bothers me so much I just want to release this feeling and educate you guys.

Mainstream; everything that everyone does and everyone listens to. Admittedly, before getting educated into music, boy, I was fond of the mainstream stuff. Mainstream music was something everyone can relate to and everyone can always talk about. When I was in the band, everything was different, contrary even. I asked myself, "Is this a higher standard of music? If it were, why are the songs being played aren't familiar?". I was baffled at first. But when I was asked to write a song, that's where my perspective turned the other way around. Constantly, I would submit my finished works to our lead guitarist that time. "It sounds like a mainstream pop crap" that's what they would say, and none of my finished pieces would get a chance to be played even at the rehearsals. Keeping a band was like keeping a high maintenance machine. We decided to call it quits and months later, we founded a hip-hop group around my school. I eventually joined the rap battle. At first, I began stealing other people's verses on the internet for my own sake. I don't know, I just felt like I wasn't capable of writing. Battle after battle, I would rap the same content over and over and the crowd would get bored real fast. "We heard that from somebody else!" my opponent yells. That's where I was pushed to my limits. I wrote my verses in my phone, strictly rhyming every last word and keeping myself on time with the meter. At first, it was difficult. Then I got the hang of it by adding words that contain heavy meaning and would emphasize those on delivery. It worked for me, and my opponents would have a hard time defending my bars. After that, slowly, I was capable of writing songs. But enough talk, let's get down to business.

When I write songs, or when I criticize other people's works I always ask...
"Does this contain any SOUL?"

When I look at mainstream music, guess what I'm asking? Your guess is good as mine. Guess what my answer to that question? Your guess is twice correct.

Majority of Mainstream music is TRASH, that seems to be written by kids or adolescents that never had emotional maturity. Hence; no SOUL at all.

Damn, I'm harsh. Mainstream music seems like a product from a factory that mass-produces its goods hastily. Any rushed job is going to get a questionable quality. We aren't living in the time where people would write music as if their lives are hanging on a thread, pouring every emotion their heart contains or submerge themselves to a trance and atmosphere where only music could take them. Pop has long abandoned its roots from Soul and RNB. Rock barely stays alive, Hip-Hop is dead, Classical, Country and Jazz are being zombified because of Pop. Was it a worthy sacrifice? Hell no. Pop used to be good though. But hearing the radio, I may just want to vomit.

Pop as a genre doesn't suck. In fact, Michael Jackson, my hero, raised Pop to divine standards. Blame the labels and the people... yes YOU. A common teenager in general is a so-called "music lover" where ironically,
these kids don't know a thing about music or music writing. That's feeding the mainstream, continuing to keep lowering their standards because it takes little to no effort at all to create a music that would guarantee to sell well. Of course, you would buy it, everyone buys it because it's your "idol" right? What music is served in the table? It's all about sex, drugs, partying etc... Being heartbroken? Most teenage relationships are weak to begin with, which explains why it sells well as a "moving-on" song. Those types of scenarios, though, are perfect venues to establish that good emotional content of a song, don't get me wrong. Sadly, most of the time is written by a bunch of idiots that can't even keep the syllables intact in a 4 chord bar. It doesn't help too that people constantly milk that song until it is dry to the point of DISGUSTING which is the reason why the Flash(superhero) is slower compared to the longevity of mainstream songs. Mainstream music anyway is all about the IMAGE, not musical skill.

Sadly, This impacts the REAL artists. They remain in the shadows, hiding behind the heap of trash the mainstream produces. They can never be shone by the light they truly deserve. Some even spend their lives barely earning something from their art. I saw bands splitting because they weren't making enough cash to sustain themselves anymore. "Working in a fastfood chain would be more practical than working in a band. This isn't the eighties where bands are hot. We live in a time where DJ's and solo artists could get more chances than a group can." a friend of mine once said after quitting their band.

"True music will set you free"

I am still hopeful, someday, things will change. Have a nice day everyone :D

Maveric here :D

I want to share something not everyone talks about. Talking about "toy collection" is taboo for those who knows nothing about the hobby. Like anime, toy collection is something people would dismiss as "stuff the kids only do", and oh boy, are they misinformed. I am here to clear things up, educate you guys a bit, and how you could get in to this hobby as well.

A little bit of history, How did I get myself to the hobby?

It was back when I was just 6 years old, and it was Christmas vacation. Living in Cagayan De Oro, my mom worked in Manila and she decided to spend the remaining days of December with me at her place in Kamuning. I could remember the excitement flowing in the little me as I gaze at that little box leaning at the trunk, under the tree. Days passed by quickly and I have torn open the box. What awaited me was a Zoids Barigator kit. "OH MY GOD!!!" I screamed. Then I opened the box, seen the contents, and my mind was blown. Runners were there waiting. At the back of my mind they were telling me "build me! build me!" in chorus. And I remembered spending 7 hours straight building the kit and I had that grin on my face from days on end. The next year, during summer, my mom decided to take me with her as she found a regular job already. I bid farewell to Cagayan and spent the rest of my elementary days there in Cavite. There I was spoiled.... so much.

The kid me is gifted with energy.... so much energy that the adults find it hard to keep up with me. I would constantly jump and tumble all over different places, stop for a moment, and run suddenly afterwards. Yes sir, I'm that lunatic of a kid. My mom put up a cure for that though, and it comes with a price... And yes... you guessed it correctly, my friend. Cavite had the worst days during the rainy season. It is always guaranteed to rain at least three times a week. And the typhoons from the Pacific always has that special route to never get out from the Philippines without leaving a mark in Cavite. Water supply cut off usually and blackouts for at least two days? I'd get BORED easily. My mom bought me jumbo sized kits so that I could fiddle with them for days until they are finished. Of course, the irresponsible me dumped my finished work in a sack and parts fell off over time. When I was up for high school, I went back to CDO, leaving those Zoids kits around to be given to some children in the neighborhood.

And six years later, here I am... Back to the addiction. The maturity in the present me is fully aware how horrible I did back then, and if I were able to talk to my little self, I'd scold the hell out of that stupid kid's soul for wasting his mom's cash. This time, I'm making sure I will never commit the same mistake again. Looking for Zoids kits, luck seems to never come on my favor. As you see, Zoids kits were long discontinued, and that made my regret a lot deeper. Then I flash-back for a second and remembered the anime I used to watch back then. "Gundam... That's it! Gundam!" I looked for toys available and yes... I am in luck. Some stores here in CDO is available with them. I prefer online shopping to save some cash though. Put that aside for a moment, let me begin.

What is a Gundam?

Gundams are special types of mobile suits that debuted during its first anime in the 80's; Mobile Suit: Gundam. Mobile Suits are mechs, robots... whatever you want to call it, which the Gundam franchise proudly serves its viewers. What made Gundam stand out against the rest? Well unlike, Mazinger Z, Voltes V or Daimos which features mechs too, Gundam is that anime that breaks the mold and creates that gray line between science fiction and reality. Sometimes, it's too much. When I say Gundam is dark, it means GUNDAM IS GODDAMN DARK. Well established characters dying is just a usual day in Gundam. You think Shakespeare's works are brutal? Be prepared to get your mind blown. Supporting characters die? check. Massive massacre of civilians? check. Love interests of our characters die? ULTRA check. Emo characters for no reason? check. Main characters committing suicides? check, check CHECK. They slap you with, "This is the reality of war bitches!" with a little spice of exaggeration. I am not even talking about the complex stuff here; like the politics involved and the "science of war" that's just too long to rave about and they make Gundam basically what it is. This shocked the audience of Japan and oh boy! This did not appeal the masses when it first came out. The studio got broke, they did not hit the target number of episodes to be run and Gundam was to be erased from history... almost. Then a toy company came in and got their asses licensed to produce Gundam toys. This was met with a landslide support... so much it gave way to a second season for the series, expanding more the massive toy line, branding Gundam as the Star Wars of Japan... OOPS!

Runners: these wonderful things make your GunPla

Gunpla: on the surface

Gundam + Plastic Model = GunPla is a trademark term used by Bandai and Sunrise. Unlike your usual action figures, YOU HAVE TO BUILD THEM YOURSELF. Depending on the grade you are hitting, and the complexity of the build, your build process may differ. Build experience, parts count, parts fit, and parts number greatly influence that. Unlike other toys, you have the freedom to select which scale or size you want the model will be as long as it exists on that format. This is where the grades come in, varying from the small and cute Super Deformed size, palm fitting basic High Grade or baffling Real Grade, complex and tearjerking Master Grade, the brutal Perfect grade, and the insane Mega Sized kits. Glue? ASSEMBLY REQUIRES NO GLUE. You could just buy yourself a side cutter or nipper(not recommended though) and you could hit one of your own. Color of plastic is ugly? No problem. You could get in to painting by airbrush, spray cans or even by brush and you could get that color you want(Acrylic is preferred). The plastic of the toys are designed to bind the paint well so that you could have less problems. You may want to use primer though.

If you have the cash and you're still not sold, just check all over the internet, it's just everywhere. Do your research, watch other modelers' masterpieces, and hopefully, you see this hobby on a different light.

How to get in to this hobby?

Stroll around the mall. Toys R' Us and Toy Kingdom will have some on display. To save more money, there are online shops around in facebook to contact to.
